Receive a warm welcome to the Bowhunter Woodland Skills and Bushcraft session. Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the reception cabin and guided on a brief stroll through the woods to our Bushcraft Zone where a cosy yurt is available all year round for a comfortable introduction to your Woodland Adventure. Here, you will spend time learning valuable skills and fascinating facts about the woodland, its inhabitants and hopefully spot a few Red Squirrels too.
The session, lasting up to three hours, includes numerous hands-on activities led by our knowledgeable and supportive Bushcraft Leaders. You'll engage in shelter construction, learn the art of safe fire lighting and extinguishing in accordance with 'leave no trace' principles. Our program encompasses the exploration, conservation, and fostering of local wildlife, including red squirrels, pine martens, shrews, mice, badgers, hares, and deer, plus the bugs that keep our wildlife happy. Additionally, you'll discover various plants, practice tree identification, and master some basic knife skills and knot tying. Depending on the age group, the session may also feature games and entertaining quizzes.
It is advisable to bring your own packed lunch or snacks and refreshments. Marshmallows are provided.
All Bushcraft Woodland Skills Sessions require the following:
We recommend wearing lightweight layers, long sleeves, sunscreen on warmer days and insect repellant Mar-Oct. A showerproof jacket is also very handy (all year round!) During lighter showers we work around them and continue through, however, storms are dangerous, and we may be forced to cancel with full refund. Please check for ticks following this session.
We are inclusive, promoting and supporting Accessibility to All. However, to maximise your enjoyment of the session, it is really important to tell us during the booking process if anyone has any additional support/health support requirements. We have strict ratios in place, and specially trained Bushcraft Instructors that can ensure you all have the absolute best time ever! We cannot offer one:one support for this session, however we are happy for caregivers/support to take part too!
