Woodland Activities beyond the Ordinary!

Bushcraft Woodland Skills Adventure. 3hrs. Min age 8yrs.

Be prepared for an unforgettable immmersive woodland experience. Join our enthusiastic team who will instruct and guide you through basic survival and bushcrafting skills. This three hour session is packed full of fun, interesting, and hands-on experiences where you have the opportunity to learn valuable skills as you explore the woodland. The program includes an introduction to safe fire lighting (and safe extinguishing to protect our habitat), local flora and fauna identification, easy edibles and a bit of whittling too. Whilst shelter building using both natural materials and man-made, you can try your hand at knot tying. We think this session is ideal for mixed age groups, family and friends. It ticks all the boxes for team building and makes for a fun staff/corporate event for exclusive use for up to 12 adults.

Be prepared for wildlife! Our Red Squirrels are abundant, and quite cheeky!

Bowhunter Archery - Balnagowan Woods, B9092, Nairn IV2 7QX, UK

Receive a warm welcome to the Bowhunter Bushcraft and Woodland Skills session. Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the reception cabin and guided on a brief stroll through the woods to our Bushcraft Zone where a cosy yurt is available all year round for a comfortable introduction to your Woodland Adventure. Here, you will spend time learning valuable skills and fascinating facts about the woodland, its inhabitants .. and you may spot a few Red Squirrels too.

The session, lasting up to three hours, includes numerous hands-on activities led by our knowledgeable and supportive Bushcraft Leaders. You'll engage in shelter construction, learn the art of safe fire lighting and extinguishing in accordance with 'leave no trace' principles. Our program encompasses the exploration, conservation, and fostering of local wildlife, including red squirrels, pine martens, shrews, mice, badgers, hares, and deer, plus the bugs that keep our wildlife happy. Additionally, you'll discover various plants, practice tree identification, and master some basic knife skills whilst you whittle your own momento. Depending on the age group, the session may also feature games and entertaining quizzes/scavenger hunts.

It is advisable to bring your own packed lunch or snacks and refreshments. Marshmallows are provided.

  • All weather clothing
  • Snack/water
  • Insect repellant
  • Sturdy, closed toe footwear
  • Sun hat and sun lotion in the summer
  • Woolly hat and gloves in the winter

This is a hands-on, inclusive and immersive experience. This session is held outdoors all year round, however we have a Yurt and a stove for the very chilly days, plus there is also a sheltered firepit area.

  • Toilets are available.
  • Drinking water is available.
  • Well behaved dogs, kept on a lead, are welcome.

All Bushcraft Woodland Skills Sessions require the following:

  • Long hair tied back
  • Closed toe shoes
  • *Wrap up in layers
  • Bring a snack!

*We recommend wearing long sleeves and covering the legs, all year round. This is to protect you against the woodland - brambles, sticks, midgies and ticks. A showerproof jacket is also very handy (all year round!) During lighter showers we work around them and continue through, however, storms are dangerous, and we may be forced to cancel with full refund. Please check for ticks following this session.

We are inclusive, promoting and supporting Accessibility to All. However, to maximise your enjoyment of the session, it is really important to tell us during the booking process if anyone has any additional support/health support requirements/peanut allergies. We have strict ratios in place, and specially trained Bushcraft Instructors that can ensure you all have the absolute best time ever!  We cannot offer one:one support for this session, however we are happy for caregivers/support workers to take part too!

It is always sad when you have to cancel, and we totally understand that these things happen. We would prefer to try and find you a new date rather than fully cancel, however, that too can sometimes be tricky if you are limited to time.

If you need to cancel, or reduce the number of booked participants in your group, up to 48 hours before the start of your booked session, we will refund any money paid to us for that participant/group.

If you need to cancel, or reduce the number of booked participants in your group, within 48 hours of the start time of your booked session, we will refund 50% of any money paid to us for that participant/group.

If you do not turn up for your booked session, and we have not had any contact from you, we will not refund any money paid to us.
